Windows XP: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file..."

Symptom

If you have a Windows XP computer and receive this message when trying to install VSee (our videoconferencing app):

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Possible Causes

You may be running an older version of Windows XP that VSee is not compatible with. VSee is supported as far bas as Windows XP Service Pack 3.

Resolution

Unfortunately, Windows has ended their support of Windows XP, so the upgrade to Service Pack 3 is no longer available for installation. You will have to use a device with a more recent version of Windows, or upgrade your computer to Windows 10.
